It seems for him that he if he wanted to have the fundamental information and directions to the best videos, he would have to create it himself. This book is for anyone who has little or no experience in cooking and will likely be alone in learning how to cook. It presents the necessary information on what it takes to be a cook, starting with safety, through pots and pans, cooking oils, shopping, very detailed simple recipes to storage and cleanup. It also has a detailed glossary, a list of cookbooks and reference books to look to after completing this book and an 89 question quiz to test themselves.

Gary J. Boos was raised in a middle class family in Minneapolis, Minnesota. He earned a bachelor's degree and master's degree in civil engineering. He served in the U.S. Army for two years during the Vietnam War, was a project engineer and project manager for civil, structural and high voltage transmission engineering projects for 35 years. He is married since 1973, a proud father of two grown children, retired and working on new challenges.
