John McConnell announces publication of 'SITHOK'
GRAND JUNCTION, Colo., Feb. 24, 2022 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- John McConnell shares the story of a young boy he mentored from the third grade through high school and how that boy won all the major science competitions and got to attend the Nobel Awards in his new book "SITHOK: Science In The Hands Of Kids" (published by Archway Publishing).
The book displays McConnell's method and value of mentoring four young students in a one-on-one relationship. It discusses the need for hands-on science training for teachers and the need for the use of data instrumentation hardware with many real applications. McConnell also extols the value to a community of having a hands-on science museum such as the Eureka! McConnell Science Museum as a resource providing many varied science camps, science trips for seniors, a Science Preschool, a science playground, a mobile preschool, and numerous other programs.
"With the central core being about mentorship, it takes a broad view not only including the four students one on one but also teachers and actually thousands of kids," McConnell says. "It is a story about great accomplishments of kids, excellent community spirit, and an outline for what people can do for similar outcomes in their community."
