September 25, 2025

Camden, SC - Sheheen, Hancock & Godwin, LLP ("Sheheen") announces a data event that may have affected certain individuals' information. Sheheen recently identified unusual activity on our network and quickly began an investigation. On May 19, 2025, our investigation determined that certain files and folders were copied and/or downloaded by an unknown actor on April 8, 2025.

Sheheen conducted a review of the relevant files and folders and, on September 3, 2025, determined that the following information may have been included in the relevant files and folder: name, Social Security number, government identification number, Passport number, Taxpayer Identification number, financial account information, date of birth, medical information, and health insurance information.

In response to this event, Sheheen quickly worked to ensure the security of our computer systems, conducted a comprehensive investigation to determine the full nature and scope of the event, and issued notice to potentially impacted individuals. Sheheen is also taking steps to further enhance our cybersecurity posture by reviewing and implementing, as needed, additional policies and procedures, including ensuring the security of data on our systems.

In general, Sheheen encourages individuals to remain vigilant against incidents of identity theft and fraud by reviewing your credit reports and account statements for suspicious activity and to detect errors. Individuals may also place a fraud alert or credit freeze by contacting the credit reporting agencies: TransUnion 1-800-680-7289; Experian 1-888-397-3742; Equifax 1-888-298-0045.

Individuals can further educate themselves regarding identity theft, fraud alerts, credit freezes, and steps to protect their personal information by contacting the credit reporting bureaus, the Federal Trade Commission ("FTC"), or their state Attorney General. The FTC may be reached at 600 Pennsylvania Ave. NW, Washington, D.C. 20580; www.identitytheft.gov; 1-877-ID-THEFT (1-877-438-4338); and TTY: 1-866-653-4261. Instances of known or suspected identity theft should also be reported to law enforcement, your state Attorney General, and the FTC.
