Veteran Venture Capitalist Brings More than 40 Years of Experience to Developer of World Class Intracardiac Image Guided Therapy Solutions

PORTLAND, Ore., April 27, 2022 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- YorLabs, a developer of cutting-edge intracardiac image guided therapy solutions, announced it has recently appointed William "Bill" Starling as chairman of the board. Starling is a leading life sciences serial entrepreneur, angel investor and venture capitalist with more than 40 years of experience in the industry. With his appointment, YorLabs has initiated the first step in building a veteran team of cardiology, ultrasound and other industry executives to enable next generation, image guided therapy solutions based on wireless integrated technologies. This could offer a significant advancement for interventional cardiology (IC) and electrophysiology (EP).

"We are pleased to have Bill join YorLabs and help lead us into a new era of intracardiac imaging," said Anshumali Roy, founder and chief technology officer, YorLabs. "Bill's extensive experience in life sciences and attracting an experienced team of industry veterans will be invaluable in fulfilling our vision to be a world class provider of our integrated image guided technologies. We believe we can enable unprecedented image quality and significantly improved workflow solutions compared to the current conventional standards."

Starling is former co-founder and managing director of Synergy Life Science Partners, LP, a $143 million Venture Capital Partnership and chief executive officer of Synecor, LLC, a business generator of new life science companies. He has 41 years of experience in medical technology devices and is a pioneer in creating leading-edge cardiac care focused companies. Starling also has significant academic, scientific, physician, venture capital, corporate and investment banking partnerships while focusing efforts on the identification and development of proprietary, disruptive technologies with extraordinary market potential in the life sciences field.

"Current interventional cardiology and electrophysiology labs are disjointed," said Starling. "Today's dominant products are outdated and offerings are an amalgamation of products from a myriad of various companies. Intracardiac image guided therapy is an afterthought for current products, which are large, bulky, costly and interfere with versus integrating with each other. I believe YorLabs can provide an excellent integrated solution to this problem."

Roy, an ultrasound miniaturization visionary and multi-chip integration expert, indicates the need is to streamline and integrate the IC and EP environment and not have products that interfere with each other. He states that current solutions are not optimized for the intended use. His vision for YorLabs could provide technology to substantially change this situation.

"IC and EP imaging appear to be an afterthought with different manufacturers for transducers and the system, resulting in no standard platform," said Roy. "At YorLabs, we see an opportunity of taking a capital item product and integrating it into a world class cohesive solution with outstanding imaging. Additionally, the healthcare provider only needs to purchase disposables without a capital expenditure outlay."

YorLabs is designing its platform to provide automatic upgrades to maintain cutting-edge technology throughout the lifetime of the system. The company is developing novel algorithms to enable world class, intracardiac image guided therapy performance with dedicated application and procedural based settings and offerings. The YorLabs solution will be an intuitive user interface platform, resulting in significant clutter and size reduction along with a greatly enhanced workflow.

"YorLabs will provide the world's only intracardiac integrated image guided therapy platform," Roy concluded. " We believe it will offer the best business model to address complete customer needs. To this end, our goal is to build a team with unprecedented industry knowledge and expertise within the cardiac market to join Bill in this effort."
