48% of prospective students cannot locate their preferred program on university websites, affecting universities' application rates. American University in Bulgaria partnered with a creative digital agency Digital Silk to create an immersive website experience to grow brand recognition and online applications.

MIAMI, Sept. 27, 2022 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- According to a Nielsen study, 48% of prospective students cannot locate their preferred program on university websites, potentially lowering the universities' application rates.

American University in Bulgaria (AUBG) partnered with creative digital agency Digital Silk to create an immersive website experience that would grow the university's visibility, brand recognition, and online applications.

Guided by extensive industry research and best practices, the agency developed a strategic website plan to capitalize on SEO opportunities, as well as provide a streamlined user experience.

According to Digital Silk's Vice President Keith Solomon, creating an intuitive user experience for prospective students was one of the agency's top priorities.

"As we've seen from the research, one of the biggest bottlenecks prospective students face when researching universities is finding relevant information," said Solomon. "To optimize conversion, i.e. application rates, we focused on designing an easy-to-use navigation, adding a search bar to the sticky menu, and optimizing landing pages for target keywords to facilitate both on-site searches and SEO."

Sticky navigation with a search bar is a "simple, yet highly effective design choice for universities," Solomon highlighted, as it allows prospective students to find and access relevant information at any point in their user journey.

From UX to UI, the agency focused on crafting an immersive user experience that is reflective of the university's distinctive brand identity. The website features rich media and strategically planned content to give prospective students a glimpse of the AUBG student life.

According to AUBG President David Evans, the website has been well received among the university's existing and prospective students alike.
