Heartex Completes SOC 2 Type II Audit, Demonstrating Highest Standard of Information Security for Label Studio Enterprise
Friday, October 14, 2022

Voluntary adherence to this security compliance standard shows Heartex customers and prospects a commitment to data privacy and operational excellence.

SAN FRANCISCO, Oct. 12, 2022 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Heartex, creator of the open-source Label Studio project and Label Studio Enterprise, has completed its System and Organization Controls (SOC) 2® Type II audit in accordance with American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) standards for SOC for Service Organizations. This is also known as a Statement on Standards for Attestation Engagements 18 (SSAE 18).

The SOC 2 audit was developed by the American Institute of CPAs (AICPA) to allow a third-party auditor to validate a service company's internal controls with respect to information security. It is now one the highest recognized standards of information security compliance in the world.

"From day one, we implemented a custom architecture that ensures customer data is never accessed or stored by Heartex," said Michael Malyuk, CEO and co-founder of Heartex. "Our unique architecture combined with the rigorous SOC 2 Type II audit demonstrate our ongoing commitment to the highest standards of data security and compliance."

In addition to the SOC 2 Type II attestation, the Label Studio Enterprise cloud service was architected to meet advanced enterprise security and compliance requirements:

-- Customer data remains private on their systems. Label Studio only stores
URLs to the data and fetches sample data for authenticated users in
        real-time.
-- Support for SSO, LDAP and role-based access control. Enterprise
customers can integrate Label Studio with their SSO provider of choice,
as well as manage roles and access amongst their team.
-- Detailed audit logs, analytics and reporting. Label Studio Enterprise
customers can also keep track of and report on user activity in the
        system.

Critical areas of the business such as policies, procedures and infrastructure regarding data security, firewall configurations, change management, logical access, backup management, business continuity and disaster recovery and security incident response were audited by Prescient Assurance LLC. This independent validation of security controls is crucial for customers in highly regulated industries. Heartex partnered with Vanta for assistance in attaining its audited SOC 2 Report. *About SOC 2*
In 2017, the AICPA introduced the term "system and organization controls" (SOC) to refer to the suite of services practitioners may provide relating to system-level controls of a service organization or system- or entity-level controls of other organizations. SOC 2 is a voluntary compliance standard for service organizations that specifies how organizations should manage customer data. A SOC 2 report is tailored to the unique needs of each organization. Depending on its specific business practices, each organization can design controls that follow one or more principles of trust. These internal reports provide organizations and their regulators, business partners and suppliers with important information about how the organization manages its data. SOC 2 Type I describes the organization's systems at a particular moment in time and whether the system design complies with the relevant trust principles. SOC 2 Type II details the operational efficiency of these systems.
