Suzhou Municipal Bureau of Culture, Radio, Television and Tourism Launches Ninth Year of North American Marketing Efforts

On November 19, 2022, the Suzhou Municipal Bureau of Culture, Radio, Television and Tourism announced that it has once again retained PTG Consulting as its English-language marketing partner for North America and Europe.

This marks the ninth year that PTG Consulting will promote Suzhou via an integrated strategic social media and public relations campaign, and the third year in Europe. The campaign is designed to bring the destination's rich culture and heritage to life, with a focus on its illustrious locally produced silk, and encourage culturally-minded foreign travelers to return to the destination now that China's borders have re-opened for leisure tourism.
Suzhou has plenty to celebrate and share with the world in 2023, including its recognition as a "Pioneering Chinese City in Building a Global Image," which was announced recently at the Forum on Global Communication of Chinese Cities in Hainan Province. This prestigious award is exemplified, in part, in arts-driven endeavors such as The Magical Craftsmanship of Suzhou documentary that showcases the intangible cultural heritage of Suzhou and was shown at major theaters in the U.S. and Canada; a partnership between Suzhou and France in the inaugural Suzhou Jinji Lake China-France Culture and Art Week; and the U.S. tour of iSING!, a collaboration between Suzhou and The Philadelphia Orchestra that showcased poetry from the Tang Dynasty through a global roster of talented young opera performers.
The first major event of PTG Consulting's North American and European campaign will be held in April during a cultural showcase at Chicago's Field Museum for journalists, influencers, content creators, travel agents, and tour operators. The special event will take place in the Sue Ling Gin Garden, a peaceful space home to eight spirit stones donated by the municipal government of Suzhou. In May, hundreds of travel bloggers, content creators and influencers from around the world will be treated to a Suzhou-style musical and dance exhibition interwoven with silk culture during the annual Travel Bloggers Exchange (TBEX) conference in Kalamata, Greece. In the latter half of 2023, consumers, media, key opinion leaders and others will have the chance to learn about Suzhou's silk culture first-hand at events in New York City and Toronto.
Over the course of Suzhou's longstanding partnership with PTG Consulting, the destination has been featured in more than 13,400 positive articles that have generated more than 471 billion media impressions. The @VisitSuzhou social media platforms have achieved more than 1.1 million followers across Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and YouTube, an increase of more than a million followers since PTG Consulting began working with the destination. More than 100 top-tier media and social media influencers have visited Suzhou during PTG Consulting organized trips.
