New book follows a pirate captain as he searches for a refuge for him and his men

ARCHDALE, N.C., May 2, 2023 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Adventure, excitement and thrill await readers in James Milton Roberts' latest novel titled "Captain Drake Strader's Dream: The Civil War One Hundred Sixty-Three Years Later" (published by Trafford Publishing).

This book tells the story of a pirate captain, Drake Strader, whose dream is to find a refuge for him and his men. With the kings of England, France and Spain finally united to capture all pirates, Strader's time is running out. He hears about a remote area called Goshen Swamp in North Carolina. There, they led a full prosperous life and their children lived on until the Civil War. Some also fought with the South.

"It shows people's true nature in life," the author describes. "People can survive this old worldly system, and have their dreams come true, but it doesn't happen by sitting around waiting for it to happen."

"Captain Drake Strader's Dream" will appeal to those who are interested in a historical fiction that includes pirates, adventure, action, mysteries, wild animals, Sasquatch, family linage covering 163 years, and Civil War battles. About the Author
James Milton Roberts is a 75-year-old Vietnam Veteran. He served in the Marine Corp as a field radio operator with the 1st Recon Division, long range patrols with five members. He is 100 % totally disabled with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). He is married and has four children, with grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Roberts lives in Archdale, North Carolina. He had, at one time, everything a man would desire: family, beautiful home, timbered land, lived close to Baden Lake. Had two businesses -- one in High Point, North Carolina, and the other in Toledo, Ohio. Roberts had amnesia from Vietnam for 25 years, found a friend shot dead, and a week later found a 16-year-old hit by train. This brought back the two ambushes his mind had blocked out for 25 years. He thought he had lost his mind, ended up at Salusbury VA Hospital, North Carolina., going back and forth being admitted until 2O21. In 1991, he filed for bankruptcy after losing everything he had. When he lost the home, his wife and children moved out, and he lived in the woods on 10 acres for over five years. Today, Roberts lives in Archdale, North Carolina. He raised Birmingham Roller pigeons as a hobby, is one of Jehovah's Witnesses, has remarried and is now living the good life. His is also the author of "My three Shadows," a biogeography.
