Strong IPCs for Strong Cranes - Efficient Use of noax Industrial PCs at Konecranes

Konecranes Straddle carriers are characterized by their high maneuverability, speed and reliability. Their manufacture also requires IT hardware that can handle many challenges. At the Bavarian (Germany) plant of the Finnish crane specialist, robust noax touchscreen industrial PCs prove their advantages with tough continuous operation: in steel construction, cutting, welding, mechanical processing, at assembly workstations and in the paint shop. A new user report highlights the added value of the versatile terminals.

The basis for the success of the plant is permanent technical development and the commitment of around 400 highly qualified and motivated employees. Modern production technology with specialized production lines ensures high quality and consistency but most importantly, the reliablility of delivery for the production of the versatile straddle carriers. With an eye on the future, the company decided in 2020 to completely change the hardware and software in production and went in search of hardware that could withstand the extremely harsh environment with dust, oil and heat - the solution was found in the compact touch terminals of the Automation Series noax.

The high-performance industrial PCs with touch displays from the German manufacturer noax, which has more than 25 years of experience in the field of robust, user-friendly PCs, also met the demanding IT requirements in addition to the robust criteria: they run with Windows operating system and can be seamlessly integrated and supported, even on the network side. The completely enclosed, compact and powerful IPCs have a TFT display with automatic screen brightness and projective capacitive touch screen. They can be operated comfortably even with different types of work gloves, are waterproof and dustproof according to protection class IP66, and resistant to shocks and vibrations. This enables the networking of man and machine by means of state-of-the-art information and communication technology even under difficult environmental conditions.
The intuitively operated touch screen IPCs reliably ensure that all information is available at the right time, at the right place, to all users - and were thus able to meet all expectations and requirements at Konecranes.
