Attorney "Arthur Stone" risks his life and career to unravel the secrets around a suspicious plane crash
SAN ANTONIO, Aug. 7, 2023 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- After a career as a lawyer, Alystair West answered a call to ministry and changed careers, becoming a pastor. Combining these two crucial stages of his life, West has recently released the new murder mystery, "Marshland."
Set in 1980s Texas, "Marshland" follows young attorney Arthur Stone as he stumbles into a mystery surrounding a suspicious plane crash that leaves two people dead and threatens a transaction his firm is handling. A diverse cast of characters faces death, betrayal, intrigue, and the potential existence of a spiritual domain at work in events. West's years of living in Texas inspired the book's setting. Interested readers will see the characters in "Marshland" visiting locations in Texas and the Houston area.
"Years ago, while I was practicing law, I had the idea for a murder mystery set in a Texas law firm," West said. "Life got in the way of writing for a long time, but writing it was on my bucket list. This and my wife's encouragement motivated me to complete the project."
West hopes "Marshland" encourages awareness of the moral and spiritual dimension of human life, the connections between businesses and the government, and the human temptation to misuse those connections in the search for power, pleasure, or possessions. He also wants to inspire readers to consider their own lives, faith, and public responsibility to our nation and world by understanding the causes of events, even when they are complex.
"Every person we encounter, whether a friend or foe at the time, embodies a life of infinite meaning and purpose," West said. "Life's most important lessons are not always easy, nor are the most life transforming relationships always pleasant at the time. I thank God for all those who have enabled me to enjoy a rich and meaningful life."
West plans to continue the story of "Marshland's" characters in future books.
