Great Valley School District Provides Notice of Data Security Event

Malvern, Pennsylvania | November 30, 2023 - Today, Great Valley School District ("Great Valley") issued notice of a recent event that may impact the security of information related to certain individuals.
On November 10, 2023, Great Valley became aware of a disruption to its technology network. Great Valley promptly launched an investigation, with the assistance of third-party cybersecurity specialists, to determine the nature and scope of the event and learned that, between October 31, 2023 and November 10, 2023, an unauthorized actor gained access to certain Great Valley systems and may have viewed or taken certain information contained in those systems. On November 21, 2023, the investigation also determined that the information potentially accessible during the event may have included personal information.
Great Valley is moving as quickly as possible to mail written notice to individuals whose personal information was identified as potentially accessible during the event. In the interim, Great Valley is providing notice to individuals by posting notice on its website and issuing notice to the media. Great Valley is also notifying relevant state regulators, as required.
The personal information potentially impacted varies by individual. However, the types of information potentially impacted include the following: name, address, Social Security number, driver's license, and medical information.
For individuals seeking additional information regarding this event, a toll-free assistance line has been established. Individuals may call 877-882-0687, Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. Eastern Time, excluding major U.S. holidays.
Potentially affected individuals can also find additional information on how they can help protect their personal information, as well as obtain additional resources, by visiting Great Valley's website at gvsd.org. As a precautionary measure, Great Valley also encourages potentially affected individuals to remain vigilant against incidents of identity theft or fraud by reviewing their account statements and credit reports for unusual activity and to detect errors. Any suspicious activity should be promptly reported to their bank, credit card company, or other applicable institution.
Great Valley takes this event and the security of the information in its care very seriously. As part of its ongoing commitment to information security, Great Valley is also implementing additional administrative and technical safeguards to further secure information in its care.
