Exactech, Inc. Provides Notice of Data Incident

GAINESVILLE, Fla. (Jan. 31, 2024) - Exactech, Inc. is making individuals aware of a data incident that may involve certain personal information, as well as the actions it has taken in response and additional steps individuals may take.
What Happened? In late April 2023, Exactech identified unusual activity on its computer network. Exactech promptly took steps to secure its systems and determine the nature of the issue. In addition, Exactech began working with a team of data security specialists to respond to and investigate the incident. Through the investigation, it was determined that certain files were likely downloaded from Exactech's systems without authorization between April 4 and April 20, 2023. Exactech undertook a detailed review of these files to determine what records were present and to whom those records related. On September 6, 2023, the review determined what records may have been affected for individuals in the United States. Exactech then began working to determine contact information for potentially affected individuals and has mailed written notice of this incident to those for whom it has contact information.
What Information Was Involved? While the data in the relevant files varies by individual, it may include name, Social Security number, government-issued identification number, financial account and/or credit/debit card information, health insurance information, medical information, username/email and password, and/or other personal information.
What We Are Doing: Exactech takes this event and the security of information in its care seriously. As part of its ongoing commitment to the privacy and security of information, it is evaluating additional technical measures and existing policies and procedures. Exactech notified federal law enforcement and is notifying relevant regulatory authorities as required. At this time, this investigation has found no evidence that any personal information has been misused beyond the initial unauthorized download. Nevertheless, Exactech is providing information on steps individuals may take to further protect their personal information, as well as additional resources. What You Can Do: Exactech encourages individuals who may be affected by this incident to remain vigilant and alert to incidents of identity theft and fraud by reviewing account statements and free credit reports for suspicious activity and to detect errors.
