Direct Agreements Expand Distribution of Physical Media Within All 132 Fred Meyer Locations Starting With The Hit Movie Dune: Part Two, and Brings A New Dedicated Space At 170 GameStop Physical Stores and GameStop.Com
UNIVERSAL CITY, Calif., May 9, 2024 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Studio Distribution Services (SDS), the leading distributor for film and television physical media entertainment in the United States and Canada, announced two new direct retail relationships to bring select 4K UHD, Blu-ray, and DVD titles to all 132 Fred Meyer grocery stores beginning with the fan-favorite film Dune: Part Two releasing on May 14th, and to a dedicated video wall space for films within 170 GameStop stores nationwide, and to GameStop.com. The strategic partnerships serve to expand access to SDS' extensive portfolio of brands, bringing home entertainment fans a curated selection of new release and catalog films and TV shows on more retailer shelves and online.

In another strategic move, GameStop will be expanding its entertainment offerings to include the sale of 4K UHD, Blu-rays, and DVDs in-store and online, providing its customers with a comprehensive section of entertainment options and solidifying its position as a leader in gaming and entertainment within the retail marketplace. This move capitalizes on the widespread adoption of gaming consoles as multi-functional entertainment hubs that include both gameplay and film viewing options. SDS' deal with GameStop will introduce a dedicated video wall space with 20 title facings in 170 stores nationwide and will include an expanded online assortment on GameStop.com. GameStop's expansion into film sales is a natural progression for the company that sells entertainment.
