Media Advisory Notice of Data Incident
Friday, September 13, 2024

Greenville, Mississippi - Delta Health System ("DHS") announces a data incident that impacted some protected health information stored on its network.

On January 21, 2024, DHS observed unusual activity on its computer network and immediately began an investigation, which included working with third-party specialists. DHS also notified law enforcement. The investigation determined that certain DHS information was accessed without authorization between approximately January 15, 2024 and January 21, 2024. Therefore, DHS began a comprehensive review of the files at issue to determine the information contained therein and to whom the information related.

DHS's review included the assistance of third-party data review specialists and recently concluded. The review determined that the type of information potentially impacted, which varies by individual, may include one or more of the following: name, address, phone number, email address, date of birth, Social Security number, passport number, driver's license number, taxpayer ID number, account/payment card information, username and password, biometric data, provider name, medical treatment/diagnosis information, medical record number, Medicare/Medicaid ID, prescription information, medical dates of service, admission, and discharge, billing/claim information, and/or health insurance information.

In response to this incident, DHS worked with third-party specialists to investigate and implement additional security precautions. DHS also notified law enforcement and reviewed its policies and procedures related to data protection. DHS has no reason to believe any information has been or will be misused because of this incident. However, in an abundance of caution, DHS is offering potentially impacted individuals access to complimentary credit monitoring and identity protection services. If you have questions about this incident, or would like to enroll in these credit monitoring and identity protection services, please call 1-877-217-4048 between the hours of 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Central time, Monday through Friday, excluding holidays. DHS can also be reached in writing at 1400 E. Union St., Greenville, MS 38703.
