Movandi Collaborates with Kyocera to Advance Wireless Relay Technology, Enabling Seamless Expansion of Millimeter Wave Coverage
Thursday, February 27, 2025
IRVINE, Calif., Feb. 19, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- Movandi, a leader in RF and millimeter wave (mmWave) technologies and software, today announced that it has collaborated with Kyocera Inc and to expand 5G mmWave network coverage and capacity by using Movandi's smart repeater technology. For more details, please refer to KDDI and Kyocera's official press release.
Movandi's proprietary mmWave RF chipsets, phased-array antenna and software technology has been used by Kyocera to provide coverage beyond the reach of traditional 5G mmWave deployments, while reducing the cost substantially and eliminating the need for fiber. Building on these technologies, Kyocera has developed a new millimeter-wave repeater, further enhancing the capabilities of 5G mmWave networks.
5G mmWave deployment is crucial to fulfill marketing promises of ubiquitous high-speed, low-latency networks and meet future capacity demands. With rapidly growing applications like Fixed Wireless Access, Private networks, and future AR/VR 5G, the sub-6 GHz bands will run out of capacity soon. Leading providers like KDDI can leverage the vast spectrum resources in higher bands to deliver world-fast multi-gigabit cellular speeds and low latency connectivity. Movandi-powered radios and smart repeaters provide unmatched performance, cost, and size advantages in challenging high-frequency 5G mmWave, unlocking new wireless multi-gigabit communication applications.
"Kyocera is excited to collaborate with Movandi, a true innovator in the 5G space," said Eiji Hanawa, General Manager at Kyocera. "We've been thoroughly impressed with Movandi's mmWave technology, which has enabled us to successfully complete this mmWave repeater development."
"We are very pleased that Kyocera chose Movandi as a technical partner to enhance its 5G mmWave network coverage," said Maryam Rofougaran, CEO and co-founder of Movandi.
"Kyocera with Movandi highlights our unique approach of purpose-built silicon, antennas, and software with advanced AI and cloud control, leading to significant deployment cost savings. Our technology in Kyocera's smart repeaters can support applications like Fixed Wireless access and private networks with high throughput, capacity, and low latency." said Reza Rofougaran, CTO and co-founder of Movandi.
Movandi's solution provide a comprehensive suite of mmWave solutions, including software, smart repeaters, and RF front-end systems, enabling network designers to create highly effective repeater-based solutions. These innovations are designed to enhance signal transmission, penetrate physical barriers, and enable fast, reliable connectivity in both indoor and outdoor environments.
