CARBYNE WELCOMES JIM BUGEL TO ITS ADVISORY BOARD
Friday, March 28, 2025

NEW YORK, March 25, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- Carbyne, the leading provider of cloud-native emergency communication solutions, proudly announces that Jim Bugel, former President of FirstNet, Built with AT&T, has joined Carbyne's Advisory Board. With over 35 years of experience in the telecommunications industry and a distinguished career in public safety, national security, and emergency preparedness, Mr. Bugel's expertise will help shape Carbyne's future.

Mr. Bugel is renowned for his leadership in revolutionizing public safety communications. Following the 9/11 Commission's call for a dedicated nationwide network for first responders, he collaborated with Congress and public safety leaders to establish the First Responder Network Authority (FirstNet). Mr. Bugel was the architect of AT&T's strategy and policy to secure the 25-year federal contract to build and operate FirstNet.

During his tenure at AT&T, Mr. Bugel led a successful nationwide campaign to ensure all 56 U.S. jurisdictions opted into FirstNet, achieving unanimous support for this groundbreaking initiative. He also spearheaded AT&T's public safety broadband communications strategy, managing the FirstNet Response Operations Group and deploying critical network assets to support emergency responders during wildfires, hurricanes, the COVID-19 pandemic, and other crises.

"Jim's visionary leadership and deep understanding of public safety communications make him an invaluable addition to Carbyne's Advisory Board," said Amir Elichai, CEO and Co-Founder of Carbyne. "His contributions to FirstNet have set a new standard for emergency communications, and we're thrilled to have his guidance as we continue to innovate and expand our cloud-native solutions."

Mr. Bugel's extensive background includes serving as AT&T's principal representative to key federal agencies and organizations such as the White House, Department of Defense, and Department of Homeland Security. He has also led several advisory committees, including the International Disaster Response Sub-Committee to the U.S. Department of State's Advisory Committee on International Communications and Information Policy (ACICIP) and the President's National Security Telecommunications Advisory Committee (NSTAC).

"I'm honored to join Carbyne's Advisory Board and contribute to their mission of transforming emergency communication systems," said Mr. Bugel. "Carbyne's innovative approach to leveraging cloud technology is critical to enhancing the speed, reliability, and efficiency of emergency response worldwide."

Mr. Bugel's wealth of experience and strategic insights will be instrumental as Carbyne continues to evolve next-generation 9-1-1 and emergency communication solutions.
