Rohirrim Appoints General (Ret.) Richard Clarke to Advisory Board
Thursday, June 26, 2025

Four-star general and former USSOCOM commander joins Rohirrim to guide growth in secure AI for government acquisition

RESTON, Va., June 18, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- Rohirrim, the leading Proposals and Acquisitions AI automation platform, today announced the appointment of General (Ret.) Richard "Rich" Clarke to its Advisory Board. Clarke is the former commander of U.S. Special Operations Command (USSOCOM), and his other key positions include the Director of Strategy, Plans and Policy on the Joint Staff, and commanding the 82d Airborne Division.

His appointment marks a pivotal step in Rohirrim's continued expansion into government and defense markets, following the recent launch of RohanProcure, the company's AI-powered platform designed to modernize government acquisition processes. As Rohirrim scales this platform, Clarke's leadership and deep domain expertise will help ensure products are built to meet the real-world needs of federal procurement teams.

"General Clarke understands the stakes, the structure and the urgency of delivering for government and defense agencies," said Steven Aberle, CEO and founder of Rohirrim. "His leadership experience and strategic insight will be invaluable as we expand RohanProcure and bring trusted AI to the front lines of government operations."

Clarke served nearly four decades in the U.S. Army, culminating in his role as the 12(th) Commander of USSOCOM from 2019 to 2022, where he directed global operations and reported directly to the Secretary of Defense. As the organization that oversees the nation's most elite Special Forces, USSOCOM is known for its need to rapidly acquire mission-critical tools and technologies. Units under its command often rely on agile procurement efforts, like those pioneered through SOFWERX, to accelerate innovation for the battlefield. Clarke brings proven leadership in these high-pressure environments, along with deep expertise in cybersecurity, risk management and first-hand experience navigating the challenges of government acquisition--key advantages as Rohirrim builds tools tailored to the unique demands of regulated sectors.

In addition to his military service, Clarke currently serves on the Board of Directors of General Dynamics and the Board of Trustees at MITRE. These roles reflect his continued influence in national security and technology strategy and reinforce his ability to advise Rohirrim's leadership at the highest level. His public commentary on emerging technologies, including generative AI, underscores his forward-thinking approach to innovation in the public sector.

"Rohirrim is solving a problem I've seen from the inside--how complex and time-consuming it is to move proposals and acquisitions through government channels," said General (Ret.) Rich Clarke. "In my career, our teams had to move at the speed of need, equipped for the mission, anywhere in the world, often with little notice. That kind of readiness depends on procurement systems that work, not ones that slow you down. I believe in this mission and in the team's ability to build technology that makes the government procurement and acquisition sector faster, smarter and more effective."

Clarke's appointment comes as Rohirrim builds momentum through product innovation, funding milestones and the formation of its Advisory Board, which includes leaders such as Dr. Michael Papay, Chair of the Board. His presence adds credibility to Rohirrim's work in the public sector and supports the rollout of RohanProcure by aligning AI development with operational realities in defense and government contracting.
