Dyndrite and Ursa Major Ink Multi-Year Deal to Power Metal Additive Manufacturing of High-Performance Rocket Engines
Wednesday, July 30, 2025

-- Ursa Major to adopt Dyndrite LPBF Pro software for AM materials and
process development, part qualification, and serial production of
        high-performance rocket propulsion systems.
-- Long-term agreement reached after an extensive six-month evaluation by
        Ursa Major's additive manufacturing experts.
-- Extensive testing demonstrated clear advantages over legacy AM build
tools, including dramatically faster file preparation, reduced support
requirements across all OEM platforms, increased print speeds, improved
microstructure and surface finish, and enhanced feature resolution,
particularly for thin walls and low-angle overhangs.
-- Dyndrite LPBF Pro software can provide manufacturing advantages for Ursa
Major, including shorter development cycles and lower costs for
        additive-manufactured engines.

SEATTLE, July 22, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- Today, Dyndrite(TM), the company behind the GPU-accelerated computation engine powering next-generation digital manufacturing solutions, announced a multi-year licensing agreement with the aerospace and defense company Ursa Major. Under the agreement, Ursa Major has chosen Dyndrite LPBF Pro to drive its metal additive manufacturing initiatives, supporting material development, part qualification, and the production of high-performance rocket propulsion systems for defense, hypersonics, and commercial space applications.

The multi-year agreement follows an extensive six-month technical evaluation, where Dyndrite outperformed its existing toolset in both engineering and manufacturing workflows. Ursa Major is now integrating Dyndrite as the core software of its additive strategy.

Ursa Major is a recognized leader in leveraging laser powder bed fusion (LPBF) for complex, mission-critical propulsion systems. Their staged combustion rocket engines deliver high thrust in compact designs, with advanced features like vector control, throttle capability, and mission restarts. The Draper engine line is the first to implement Dyndrite LPBF Pro, enabling agile development and production.

"It's been exciting working side by side with Ursa Major's engineers," said Steve Walton, Head of Product at Dyndrite. "Watching Dyndrite LPBF Pro immediately and consistently solve the fundamental parameter and toolpath challenges that plague legacy tools. It's enabled support reduction, improved surface finish, and more consistent microstructure. All of this confirms we are delivering strategic value and a much needed solution to industry."

"Collaboration with Dyndrite has enabled Ursa Major to build advanced parameter strategies that were out of reach just a year ago," said Thomas Pomorski, Director of Additive Manufacturing at Ursa Major. "Their software tools are helping us scale complex AM hardware across machines and platforms, unlocking a new vision for propulsion manufacturing. Together, we are innovating through technical barriers to deliver next-generation defense and hypersonic propulsion hardware that can be manufactured at scale with unprecedented speed."

"Ursa Major is pushing the boundaries of propulsion, and we're proud to be part of that mission," said Harshil Goel, CEO of Dyndrite. "They're not just adopting new software, they're replacing legacy workflows with a programmable, automation-ready approach to additive manufacturing. That's exactly why we built LPBF Pro, to give advanced manufacturers like Ursa Major the power to move fast, scale smart, and control every part of their process."

Dyndrite LPBF Pro is a modern AM software toolkit designed to support critical manufacturing applications. It provides a scriptable CAD-to-Print environment, sophisticated materials and process development tools, unlocks modern agile qualification and calibration processes, and enables repeatable, traceable production lines - all while codifying knowledge within engineering and production teams.
