        cyberattack

        protection and peace of mind

FREMONT, Calif., Oct. 1, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- Small and medium businesses are overconfident about their cybersecurity risks, according to new data from ASUS, global technology leader that provides the world's most innovative and intuitive devices. The data from the 2025 Future of SMB Report, tracked responses from over 100 SMB leaders across the United States.

SMBs are Underestimating Cyber Risks
The data suggests a misalignment between perceived and actual cyber risk. Data reveals that while 84% of SMBs feel safe or neutral from cyberattacks,16% of respondents have already experienced an attack. While 35% believe they are less likely to be targeted than larger enterprises, nearly 31% of SMBs experience cyber-attack each year, according to industry reports.

This gap between confidence and reality may have practical implications for cybersecurity preparedness. As smaller businesses often present as attractive targets due to having valuable data and fewer dedicated security resources, the underestimation could contribute to preparation gaps that leave some SMBs more vulnerable to targeted threats.

"In today's cyber landscape, the biggest threat isn't just an outside attack, it's assuming you're not a target," said Benjamin Yeh, President of ASUS Computer International. "SMBs that take action now are building the digital resilience they'll need tomorrow."
