Getac to Showcase AI-Enabled Rugged Solutions for Utilities at EEI TDM&MA Fall Conference
Friday, October 10, 2025
Demonstrates devices, software and video options to address critical utility challenges
IRVINE, Calif., Oct. 2, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- Getac Technology Corporation (Getac), a leading provider of rugged computing and mobile video solutions and a manufacturer with advanced in-house capabilities, today announced it will showcase its comprehensive portfolio of industry-first AI-enabled laptops and tablets as well as integrated software and video solutions, designed to address critical pain points facing large utility operators at EEI's Transmission, Distribution, Metering and Mutual Assistance (TDM&MA) Conference. The conference will take place from October 5-8 in Nashville, Tennessee.
At booth #1013, Getac will display its next generation devices featuring Copilot+ PC capabilities and integrated with Getac Essentials software, body-worn camera solutions, and Ground Control System (GCS), a ruggedized command-and-control platform designed for robotics and UAV (drone) operations. The display will focus on key areas where utilities face operational challenges.
-- Long-Life Compatible Docking Solutions: Getac will preview its approach
to eliminating costly transitions. The company's next generation
technology delivers enhanced performance in devices that are bigger,
lighter and faster while remaining fully compatible with existing
docking systems. This compatibility eliminates the need for utilities to
invest in new docking equipment each time they upgrade devices,
supporting the industry's need for predictable long-term investments.
-- Total Cost of Ownership: In a survey conducted by IDC for Getac in 2024
it revealed that nearly half of utilities expect to increase spending on
rugged devices over the next 12-18 months, driven by the critical need
to minimize operational downtime([1]). With utility companies typically
retaining field devices for 3-5 years and facing an average repair cost
of $600 per incident, Getac's 3-year bumper-to-bumper warranty provides
a cost-effective solution that addresses the full lifecycle of device
ownership.
-- Future-Ready Architecture: Recognizing the critical nature of the
utility infrastructure, Getac will showcase devices featuring Trusted
Platform Model (TPM) technology and Eclypsium security solutions that
provide full-scale device protection. Getac's ISO 27001 certification
underscores its commitment to data security in asset management
applications. The devices also provide integrated capabilities for
Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) and Single-Sign-On (SSO) solutions,
helping utilities maintain security protocols without compromising ease
of use for field personnel.
"Large utility companies face unique obstacles that stretch far beyond the need for rugged hardware," said Charlie Gibbs, Director of Product Solutions, Getac North America. "Our participation at TDM&MA represents Getac's commitment to understanding the transmission and distribution sector's workflows. We're showcasing solutions that address the total cost of ownership concerns utilities face, from initial deployment through the entire device lifecycle."
Comprehensive Solution Demonstrations
TDM&MA attendees can explore a robust menu of Getac's utility solutions, including vehicle docks and a range of best-in-class rugged devices such as the S510, B360, K120, UX10, ZX10, ZX80, V120 and F120 models, along with the Body-Worn BC-04 4K camera system. They can also discover the Ground Control System (GCS), which builds on Getac's rugged devices and solutions to enable utilities to harness UAVs and robotics for smarter inspections, enhanced asset monitoring, and reliable field performance.
