CREATOR MEDIA COMPANY RAPTIVE ANNOUNCES 'TERMS OF CONTENT USE' AGREEMENT TO ESTABLISH PROTECTIONS AGAINST AI SCRAPING
Tuesday, October 7, 2025

Raptive is protecting its 6,000+ creator network by implementing an initiative to prevent AI crawlers from scraping independent publishers' content on the open web

NEW YORK, Sept. 29, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- Raptive, the world's leading creator media company, today announced its "Terms of Content Use" framework. This initiative aims to warn AI scrapers that crawling and collecting content from the websites within Raptive's independent creator network is not permitted. Over the last few weeks, thousands of websites across Raptive's network have begun to display a message making it clear that AI bots do not have permission to scrape their content, and doing so is a violation of US copyright law.

The new "Terms of Content Use" initiative explicitly prohibits scraping, copying, or republishing creator content without permission, reinforcing that this material is original, protected, and off-limits for unauthorized AI training or replication.

"Today, we're furthering Raptive's promise to protect independent creators on the open web by delivering a tangible solution for our network," says Michael Sanchez, co-founder and chief executive officer at Raptive. "Creator 'Terms of Content Use' is a clear signal to AI companies that the era of exploiting creators' work without consent or consequence is over."

"Terms of Content Use," a straightforward, enforceable measure, builds on Raptive's broader efforts to support aligned initiatives that ensure creators are credited and compensated for their work. These include backing the newly launched Really Simple Licensing (RSL) Standard, joining Cloudflare's landmark move to block AI crawlers by default, and piloting programs like its partnership with ProRata.

The initiative will protect independent creators whose work is often used without permission, a practice that strips away web traffic, diminishes audience trust, and erodes the economics of the open web. While nearly all major publishers already include protective language in their terms and conditions, most independent publishers and creators lack these safeguards, leaving their content vulnerable to unauthorized use by AI.

"We're making this language available to everyone, including creators outside of Raptive's network, so that any publisher can strengthen their defenses against unauthorized AI scraping," says Marc McCollum, chief growth officer at Raptive. "With AI-driven disruption accelerating across the digital media landscape, Raptive is leading industry-wide efforts to ensure creators on the open web have the tools and backing to safeguard their intellectual property and economic value."

"Terms of Content Use" comes one year after the launch of Raptive's Keep it real campaign, which unites creators, advertisers, and consumers around the value of authentic, human-made content. While Keep it real underscores the unique power of creator voices in an era of AI disruption, the new initiative gives creators concrete tools to defend their work and protect the integrity of the open web.
