IT Distribution Industry Organization Hosts 5th Annual Investors Conference
Thursday, May 08, 2008
More than 100 leading financial analysts covering technology industry convene in New York with CEOs of the world's largest IT distributors
NEW YORK, May 8 /PRNewswire/ -- The Global Technology Distribution Council
(GTDC), is today hosting its fifth annual Investor Relations Conference (IRC)
in New York City, bringing together the chief executive officers of the
world's leading IT distributors and the top financial analysts covering the
technology industry. A Webcast replay of the event is available at
http://www.videonewswire.com/event.asp?id=46950 .
The conference, held at the Millennium Broadway Hotel in New York City,
includes detailed reports of the financial performance of IT distributors,
current market dynamics, and innovative ways that leading IT vendors and
solution providers are partnering with distributors throughout the world. This
year's IRC sessions cover topics ranging from distribution industry growth
drivers and new IT channel business models to fundamental ways in which the
SMB market has changed and how specialization is defining a new era in the
industry.
"GTDC member sales now exceed more than $100 billion in annual revenue,
following a record year of IT distributor sales in 2007 and our expansion in
the European marketplace," commented Tim Curran, GTDC CEO. "Our overall
industry insight is consequently better than ever and backed by a new
independent European sales tracking service as well as an enhanced U.S.
database, both specifically based on actual distributor sales-out results.
We're particularly excited by the overall trend in which distributors and
vendors are continually strengthening their partnerships and support for the
IT reseller channel."
Other key takeaways from today's IRC event include:
-- The SMB market -- a distributor "sweet spot" -- remains a key strength.
-- Distributors are delivering strong absolute and relative financial
performance.
-- Although distribution is a relatively low-margin business, the
industry's high gross revenues make for an undeniable value proposition
for investors, particularly as sales power up.
-- Distributors are often undervalued despite strong cash flow, book
values and earnings.
Distribution Industry Sales Tracking Services
The GTDC leverages comprehensive distribution industry databases for
market trend insights as part of its overall communication to the investor
community. This includes the launch of a new database that tracks distribution
sales across Europe. Offered in conjunction with London-based Context,
Europe's leading independent IT consumer and business technology market
research company, "SalesWatch -- Distribution(SM), follows the success of a
similar service, The NPD Group Distributor Track(R), in the United States.
That offering, introduced in October 2002, and the Context service are both
available by subscription.
