Unique 'mentored-learning' approach offered for AIA-approved courses

NEW YORK, May 8 /PRNewswire/ -- McGraw-Hill Construction (MHC), a part of The McGraw-Hill Companies (NYSE: MHP), today announced its new interactive Continuing Education Center, the first online learning center to provide American Institute of Architects (AIA) approved courses in a "mentored learning" format, which seamlessly directs users who get a wrong answer to the exact section where the misunderstood topic is discussed.

The Center's clean, intuitive design allows users to easily access content organized by date, topic, sponsor, keyword, popularity and multimedia type. Special features, such as Test Tracker and course alerts, keep users updated on both their progress and new personally relevant learning opportunities. Users who read print articles or take courses, offered for free online at ArchitecturalRecord.com, ENR.com, GreenSourceMag.com and Construction.com, will receive Continuing Education Learning Units through the AIA Continuing Education Program.

"Over 500,000 AIA Learning Units have been earned by thousands of architects through Architectural Record since 1997," said Laura Viscusi, publisher of Architectural Record and vice president of McGraw-Hill Construction Media. "With the new McGraw-Hill Construction Continuing Education Center, the entire design and construction profession can come together online to learn about topics ranging from sustainability to project delivery to product innovation. We are excited to offer this new learning platform, where users can earn credits on their own time, in a mentoring environment that promotes career development and meets professional requirements."

Demos of the new MHC Continuing Education Center will be available at the McGraw-Hill Construction Booth #15011 at the AIA 2008 National Convention and Design Exposition at the Boston Convention Center on May 15-17.
