Verizon Launches Aggressive Expansion to Upgrade More Than 26,000 Telephone Lines for Verizon High Speed Internet Service

LANSING, Mich., May 12 /PRNewswire/ -- More consumers and businesses across the Lansing area have or soon will have access to Verizon High Speed Internet, allowing them to quickly download movies, share photos or video with friends and family, and create their own Internet content.

Verizon technicians are installing high-speed Internet equipment, based on digital subscriber line (DSL) technology, at nearly 40 company facilities, which serve from 100 to 4,900 phone lines. When the expansion project is completed this summer, the broadband service will be available to more than 26,000 eligible customers in Bath, DeWitt, Fitchburg, Grand Ledge, Grass Lake, Laingsburg, Munith, Onondaga, Parma, Stockbridge, Wacousta, Webberville and Williamston.

"More residents and businesses across the Lansing area will be able to make the high-speed connections that are important to them," said Sean Majewski, Verizon's director of customer operations for Michigan. "Verizon recognizes that broadband access is a critical link for education, safety and information, and our significant investment here means that many more customers will have access to affordable and reliable high-speed Internet service."

Verizon High Speed Internet service is delivered on a dedicated line from Verizon's central switching office to the customer's home or business and is backed by live, 24 x 7 customer service and technical support. The service typically is available to residents and businesses that are located within roughly three miles of the company's central switching offices.

Verizon High Speed Internet subscribers have access to an extensive collection of features and services, including online protection with Verizon Internet Security Suite; Verizon Enhanced Email; Verizon Premium Tech Support; Online gaming; free news from ABC News Now; free sports from ESPN360; and more.

For additional information about Verizon High Speed Internet prices, features and bundled plans, residential consumers can call 877-483-5898 or visit www.verizon.net/highspeed to check their eligibility or to place orders.
