MedApps Selected as Dell-NFIB 2008 Business Excellence Award Finalist
Monday, May 12, 2008
SCOTTSDALE, Ariz., May 12 /PRNewswire/ -- MedApps announced today, that it
has been selected as one of the nation's 10 most innovative companies as part
of Dell's 2008 Global Small Business Excellence Award.
The MedApps Mobile Wireless Health Monitoring System helps connect people
afflicted with chronic disease like Diabetes, Asthma, Congestive Heart Failure
(CHF) and COPD, with their healthcare providers. This is accomplished by
collecting personal health readings from off the shelf medical devices (e.g.,
glucose meters, scales, blood pressure monitors, ECG, pulse ox, spirometers)
and transmitting that data wirelessly to a secure server or Personal Health
Record (PHR) like Microsoft HealthVault for storage and review.
"The No. 1 reason small businesses use technology is to better serve
customers and no one is doing that better than this year's 10 finalists," said
Frank Muehleman, vice president and general manager of Dell Small and Medium
Business. "These companies are applying technology in innovative ways to
break new ground and raise the bar."
"Dell has been a very integral part in building a solid foundation for the
MedApps System, giving us the ability to scale for the future," said Kent
Dicks, Chief Executive Officer of MedApps. "Dell gave us the ability to enter
the Enterprise Level space for a very reasonable investment. Our Fortune 500
clients are impressed with our servers, architecture, backup, redundancy,
security, scalability and speed. Setting up our environment correctly from
the beginning with Dell servers and software has allowed MedApps to grow fast
and leap solidly ahead of the competition."
The Dell/NFIB Award is the third honor that MedApps has received since the
beginning of 2008. MedApps has been recognized as an innovator in the field
of wireless telemedicine, recently bringing home two major awards from Silicon
Valley, including the 2008 Frost & Sullivan North American Technology
Innovation Award (http://www.frostandsullivan.com) in the field of Wireless
Point of Care. MedApps was also the winner of the 2008 Nokia "Mobile Rules!"
Business Plan Competition (http://www.mobilerules.org), an esteemed award for
innovative mobile business plans, cutting-edge technologies, applications and
services from developers and entrepreneurs from around the world.
