International Academy of Digital Arts and Sciences Selects Zopa over Goldman Sachs and Others as Best Financial Services Web site
SAN FRANCISCO, May 14 /PRNewswire/ -- Zopa (http://www.zopa.com), an
online lending company that uses the power of community to help people reach
their goals, is celebrating its second consecutive win at the 12th Annual
Webby Awards. The social lending pioneer claimed top honors in the Financial
Services category over Goldman Sachs, Lending Club, Microplace and Mint. Zopa
took top honors in the Banking/Bill Paying category in last year's Webby
Awards.
"This has been a landmark year for Zopa with our successful product launch
in the U.S. market, the growth of our UK business, launching in Italy, and now
our second consecutive Webby Award," said Doug Dolton, chief executive officer
of Zopa. "The Zopa team is thrilled by this honor and we promise to continue
to deliver safe, secure and innovative ways to help our community members
reach their goals."
The Webby Award is "the leading international award honoring excellence of
more than 100 Web site, Interactive Advertising, Online Film & Video and
Mobile categories." Presented by The International Academy of Digital Arts
and Sciences, the annual contest typically receives more than 8,000 entries
from more than 60 countries and all 50 states. The Academy evaluates Web
sites based on six criteria: content, structure and navigation, visual design,
functionality, interactivity, and overall experience. The 12th Annual Webby
Awards celebration will take place in New York City June 8th through 10th.
In addition to the Webby Award, Zopa was named Best in Show at the annual
Finovate Conference in April. Selected by the industry experts and media in
attendance, Zopa was rewarded for making the best overall impression of its
product/service that empowers borrowers to take control of their interest
rate. Also in April, Zopa was awarded the International Retail Banking Award
for the 2008 Most Threatening Non-Bank Competitor.
