MIT Technology Review Names Megan McCarthy Executive Editor

CAMBRIDGE, Mass., Feb. 14, 2018 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Today, MIT Technology Review announced that Megan McCarthy has been named executive editor. McCarthy will report to Gideon Lichfield, who took over as editor-in-chief in December, and will manage the publication's editorial staff and journalistic output.

"Megan has done it all, from Silicon Valley gossip blogging to running an algorithmic news aggregator to managing teams in major newsrooms, and she's seen the best and the worst of the tech industry and the media that cover it," said Lichfield. "Her experience and ideas will be invaluable to us in establishing MIT Technology Review as not only the leading voice on how new technologies will affect the world but also as a powerhouse of journalistic creativity and innovation."

McCarthy has worked at, among others, Valleywag, Mediagazer, the New York Observer, Reuters, and Fortune, where she was deputy managing editor of Most recently, she was head of editorial strategy at Alley Interactive, an agency that builds digital platforms for publishers.

McCarthy starts at MIT Technology Review on Feb. 20.
