AT&T Will Help Danieli Transform its Global Metal Business for the Digital World
Thursday, December 06, 2018

Danieli Chose AT&T in Competitive Deal Due to AT&T's Ability to Deliver Transformative, Future-Ready Global Network Designed for Growth

BUTTRIO, Italy, Dec. 6, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- AT&T* will provide Danieli with global networking services that include SD-WAN and AT&T FlexWare(SM). Danieli is a global supplier of equipment and physical manufacturing plants to the metal industry. The deal will connect Danieli's global sites across Asia, Europe and the US, including its headquarters in Buttrio, north-east Italy. Danieli will move from a multi-supplier and partially managed network to a managed global network with edge-to-edge capabilities, managed by AT&T.

"As we continue to expand in Asia and the U.S., we are focused on our digital transformation. We need to manage the complexity of the steel and metals market and take advantage of technological innovation, to better serve our customers. That's why communication, collaboration and global network services are key for us to innovate and transform into the future," said Danieli's Executive Vice President ICT, Alexander Stewart.

Stewart continued, "After a comprehensive supplier selection, we chose AT&T. Our objective is to continuously innovate providing our customers with state-of-the art services. It's essential for our growth. It's why we are excited about AT&T's flexible and innovative software-defined global network services; they match our vision of continuous transformation."

This is the first time Danieli has worked with AT&T. We'll deliver a highly secure and flexible global network to Danieli's 10,000+ employees across 39 countries. At the heart of the solution is AT&T FlexWare, our leading intelligent edge solution. We are using our expertise, global scale and vision to bring together innovative networking solutions such as AT&T FlexWare, network function virtualization, SD-WAN and VPN in a highly secure environment.

"Our vision is to help businesses be more efficient, process more data and run more applications than ever before. That's why we are bringing global networking solutions to multi-national companies like Danieli, with services that integrate near seamlessly in the digital world, from edge to edge," said AT&T Region President for Europe, the Middle East and Africa, John Vladimir Slamecka.

SD-WAN, the glue for enterprise networks

Another benefit of AT&T FlexWare is the path it lays for Danieli to use an SD-WAN networking environment. SD-WAN helps companies improve their application performance and control costs. Think of it as the network glue that binds devices, sensors, applications, clouds and end users.

SD-WAN is the next big step for enterprise networks and it helps businesses make the best use of their WAN connections. We're working to deploy SD-WAN in more than 28,000 locations around the world. This makes us the largest SD-WAN provider globally.(1)

AT&T FlexWare and best-of-breed VNFs

AT&T FlexWare is an agile way for our customers to use virtualized network functions (VNFs) like routers, firewalls and WAN accelerators to help optimize their networks. With a single AT&T FlexWare device installed at each site, businesses can choose best of breed virtual functions that are AT&T certified, instead of using separate hardware for each function. And because AT&T FlexWare is modular, each site can run the apps that are best suited to their individual needs. This makes AT&T FlexWare ideal for businesses needing to map their networking needs as their needs progress and adapt to a changing digital world.

Danieli will also use our internet, remote access and managed security services, including DDoS protection. And, with access to our integrated technology service desk, Danieli staff will have access to their own single point of contact.
