Squat Delivers Fresh Take on New Year's Fitness Resolutions
Friday, January 11, 2019

PORTLAND, Ore., Jan. 11, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- Forget the pricey gym memberships and trendy diets that surge in popularity every January as part of the typical menu of New Year's resolutions. Inkwater Press author Jim Speirs's surprising book, Squat, lays out the best road to getting in shape, with a return to basic facts.

Squat continues to receive praise from bodybuilders and book reviewers. Speirs's approach to fitness is the result of decades of research, personal experimentation, and mentorship at the gym, after injuries suffered in the Vietnam War demanded that he build as strong a physique as possible for continued mobility and long-term health.

The human body is a fickle thing. Exercising it should be a no-brainer--after all, a body in motion stays in motion. However, the industry of mass-marketed gyms and quick-fix fad diets can lead us down all sorts of confusing paths. Squat deftly squashes these myths through hilarious and well-told chapters, with tidbits of wisdom carefully interspersed so it never feels like the author is preaching. Speirs very clearly knows what he's talking about, as techniques that other authors would have illustrated are concisely described in his snappy prose. Squat is unlike any other workout/diet/history book you've ever read, precisely because it doesn't fall easily into any of those categories. By merging genre, fact, and fiction, Squat becomes a triumphant work that has the ability to change lives, minds, and bodies ...
Squat is not another "how to" manual that offers examples of "magic" or miracles. Squat outlines fitness basics that work. Conversely, the health and vitality of the industry only thrives as the user stumbles. The unique and curious component behind this whole phenomenon is why Speirs wrote Squat.
Red City Review

While the reader may not agree with all of the assertions in Squat, the author's direct and engaging style is guaranteed to inspire a critical review of fitness world "facts." A printed review copy of the book or a complimentary Kindle download is available upon request. Contact Virginia Solan, Marketing Director at Inkwater Press, at or call (503) 968-6777.
