The development team behind the first Blockchain-powered Open World RPG launches BlockPegnio
Thursday, November 28, 2019

Following the first blockchain gameplay prototype at GDC 2019, and one of the most successful blockchain game asset sales in the post-ICO hype era, BlockPegnio was founded to accelerate the mainstream adoption of the game beyond the blockchain niche market.

ATHENS, Greece, Nov. 20, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- The team behind the upcoming blockchain game title The Six Dragons, an open-world RPG title that runs on Ethereum network, today announces the launch of BlockPegnio. The company will be the parent of a series of blockchain-powered projects with a broader focus on the gaming industry.

The founder and CEO of BlockPegnio, Savvas Lazopoulos, remarked:
"We believe that blockchain gaming can go beyond the well-established cryptocurrency hype, solve specific problems, and offer a brand-new experience for mainstream gamers. We started BlockPegnio to integrate blockchain elements only "where it makes sense" and create the first real games on blockchain that can reach mainstream audiences."

Apart from The Six Dragons, the company's portfolio currently consists of Crafting Simulator, a gamified mobile app that will complement the blockchain gaming experience of the game. Additionally, BlockPegnio will focus on developer-oriented solutions that will enable game creators to design meaningful and dynamic interactions between their game architecture and their blockchain-powered game assets.

In 2019, BlockPegnio's flagship project, The Six Dragons, gained significant traction from the gaming and developers' community following the first blockchain prototype release 48 hours after the launch of the Unity SDK by the Enjin Platform. As the first successful implementation, the game was showcased during the Gamer's Developer's Conference (GDC) in March 2019 at San Francisco from Enjin's CTO, Witek Radowski. In May 2019, the game raised $172.000 in only two weeks during the first product crowdfunding round. Supporters received in-game blockchain assets for their contribution, marking one of the most successful blockchain game asset sales in the post-ICO hype era.

"Blockpegnio is not a traditional game studio, but more of a blockchain-driven gaming innovation project. We formulated a team with a diverse set of expertise from the consulting and technology industries and not solely centered around gaming. We all share a passion for innovation in the industry, but we also see gaming as an adoption proxy for blockchain and cryptocurrencies. Hence our team goes beyond the boundaries of a traditional gaming studio."
