Explore educational ideas of the future with speculative storytelling in new short story collection
Thursday, December 19, 2019

Stavros N Yiannouka, Deena Newaz, and Vesta Gheibi consider what education can be in 'Ed Futures'

DOHA, Qatar, Dec. 17, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Using their day-to-day work in education research, development and policy, Stavros N Yiannouka, Deena Newaz and Vesta Gheibi created the new short story collection, "Ed Futures: A Collection of Short Stories on the Future of Education" (published by AuthorHouse UK) as a thought experiment. The book uses speculative storytelling to explore new and potentially uncomfortable ideas in order to provoke discussion.

Each story in the collection has a different protagonist and take place at different points in the future. While some of them explicitly introduce the setting, others are left to the reader's imagination. "Trials" follows Aris, and "Labours" introduces Heraclea. In "A World of Contradictions," there are three character's stories to follow: Kai, Khadijah, and Lucas. And in the final tale "Not On My Own," the narrative follows Layla's story.

"We believe that science fiction centered on education is a particularly novel idea, and something that will resonate with many people," the author's say. "We want readers to think critically about the different societal and technological changes that will shape the future of education."

"Ed Futures" is available for purchase on Amazon at: https://www.amazon.com/Ed-Futures-Collection-Stories-Education/dp/1728393965.
