How Companies Use Artificial Intelligence to Plan for the Big Game
Wednesday, January 29, 2020

Razat Gaurav, Chief Executive Officer at LLamasoft, Discusses How Companies Use AI to Determine What People are Eating, How Much, and Where They Buy Their Snacks.

NEW YORK, Jan. 27, 2020 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Each year, over 180 million Americans tune in to watch the Big Game, ranking as one of the country's biggest food consumption days, second to only Thanksgiving. As we approach the big game, companies are attempting to figure out what people want, how much and where it needs to go for people to buy it. How do they do it? AI, of course. Recently, Chief Executive Officer at LLamasoft, Razat Gaurav teamed with YourUpdateTV to discuss how AI can help.

A video accompanying this announcement is available at: https://youtu.be/ZD_0V4v7z2o

LLamasoft works with many of the country's largest food & beverage manufacturers, and this year - just to name a few - they're expecting Americans to consume:

    -- 13 million slices of Domino's pizza
-- 50 million cases of beer
    -- 1.3 billion chicken wings
-- 139 million pounds of avocados, largely in the form of guacamole

It can be a logistical nightmare making sure the right amount of snack foods are in stores before Game Day - and getting them to the right stores in the right cities, on time. Companies need to predict what this year's hottest snacks will be, where people will buy them, and have their supply chains effectively set up to get products where they need to go.

Historical data doesn't always predict the future. In other words, looking at what people ate and drank during last year's Super Bowl doesn't necessarily indicate what people will eat and drink this year. Trends change, environments change, shipping costs change - there are all kinds of factors that play into meeting customer demand, and into a company's supply chain.

To be more accurate and deliver on customer demand in a cost effective, efficient way, companies are now using AI and machine learning to figure this out. AI can look at massive amounts of data from multiple different sources, so by using AI, they're able to predict the most likely spikes in demand for their products, and then design their supply chains to deliver what people want.

AI helps them make smarter decisions faster. They're better able to prepare, so they can get you the pizzas and guacamole you want on Game Day, and you're not left looking at an empty shelf in the grocery store. On the flip side, they can make sure there aren't too many products or the wrong products shipped out, leaving an excess of items on the shelf that could go bad.
