YWCA USA Launches Website to Promote Voter Education and Participation
Tuesday, October 07, 2008

WASHINGTON, Oct. 7 /PRNewswire/ -- The YWCA USA, the nation's oldest and largest women's organization, has launched a comprehensive voter resource website (http://www.ywcavote.org) to educate all voters, especially women and people of color, about the upcoming election.

"We discovered there was no place online where the average person could go to learn about the issues, register to vote or find out who's running for national and statewide office," said Lorraine Cole, PhD, YWCA USA's CEO. "We created this website as a one-stop shop to provide resources voters need to fully participate in the election."

YWCAvote.org provides detailed information on issues key to this election, voter registration, candidate and election information, and opportunities for people become active participants.

"The YWCA is working hard to ensure that women and people of color understand the issues and why it is important to become engaged and vote," said Dr. Cole. "We want all voters to take their civic responsibility seriously and participate in this election. This Web site is a powerful and easy-to-use resource that will increase voter education and participation."
