Saturday, February 15, 2020

Results highlight staffing challenges and growth opportunities for hospice stakeholders

CHICAGO, Feb. 7, 2020 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Hospice News, an Aging Media Network publication, is pleased to announce the results of its first-ever outlook survey on the state of the hospice market.

Conducted in collaboration with Dallas-based Homecare Homebase, the survey gathers the opinions of more than 300 industry professionals including owners, executive leadership, managers and staff, polled about their hospice care industry outlook for 2020.

The report on the survey results includes highlights on where industry stakeholders foresee challenges in the year ahead, which non-home settings they see as most ripe for hospice service growth, their preparation for the upcoming Medicare Advantage hospice carve-in, where they see referral growth potential, and more.

In summary, respondents indicated:

-- Staffing is the greatest challenge to the hospice industry in 2020
-- Hospice providers see a big opportunity for growth in assisted living
settings, as well as nursing facility settings in the year ahead
-- Industry participants see electronic health and medical records offering
hospice providers their best ROI opportunity in terms of technology
        investments

"Based on our regular conversations with hospice professionals, it was no surprise to learn from the survey response that staffing challenges and revenue cycle management are going to be the most critical areas for hospice operations in the year ahead. It was interesting to see the vast growth potential that respondents are seeing both in terms of alternative hospice settings and new referral partnerships," said Hospice News Editor Jim Parker

The full survey results are available here.
