Election '08 Has Gone to the Dogs ... and Cats, Too!
Monday, October 13, 2008

By fighting like cats and dogs, candidates inspire pet buttons, rap song and video!

KANSAS CITY, Mo., Oct. 13 /PRNewswire/ -- A Kansas City entrepreneur has sold thousands of her "Bark Obama for President" and "100% McCain9" campaign buttons for dogs as well as "Demo-cats for Obama" and "McCain is PURR-FECT" buttons for cats. Sharon Young, owner of PoliticalShop.com, has been designing and selling campaign buttons since 1992. This year, she came up with a new hit product, "Patriotic Pets" campaign buttons for pets that clip directly onto your dog or cat's collar. Young has recently penned a new rap song and video entitled "Bark Obama vs. McCain9."

"I was watching the candidates fight like cats and dogs on TV one day," said Young, who writes songs as a hobby, though mainly in off election years. "I decided to write a song about Election 2008 as seen through the eyes of dogs and cats." Originally written as a rock song, Young came across a cute rap video about a cat called "Mean Kitty" on YouTube.com, and was inspired to change her tune to rap. She then went about creating a video. "This was my first video, so I made mistakes and ran over my deadline, but it was really fun and a great learning experience," said Young, who is releasing the "Bark Obama vs. McCain9" video just 3 weeks before the election. New dog and cat button designs are now available based upon characters from the video, including a winking "Pitbull in Lipstick" button available in both dog and people sizes, a "Bark Obama-Joe Bite'n" dog button as well as new cat designs.

PoliticalShop.com's Campaign Buttons for dogs, cats and people have been featured in several major newspapers and magazines as well as a St. Paul, Minnesota TV news special during the Republican Convention.

FREE button samples are available for media use. FREE CD of "Bark Obama vs. McCain9" available for airplay. For button samples, CD, Betacam SP video and/or high-resolution images contact Sharon Young at mvi@PoliticalShop.com. Please put "Media Request" in subject line or call 1-800-421-0865.
