Online Quiz Reveals Wine-Drinking Preferences of 2008 Candidates and Former Presidents
Tuesday, October 14, 2008

LA CROSSE, Wis., Oct. 14 /PRNewswire/ -- What does Barack Obama drink when he visits his favorite Chicago restaurant? Which candidates have wines named in their honor? Which former president built a huge wine cellar in the White House basement? Just in time for pre-election cocktail talk, the online White House Wine Quiz reveals drinking habits of current candidates and past presidents as well as other White House wine-related lore. Take the quiz at http://www.wineteasers.com/whitehouse/.

The quiz manages to both amuse and inform as it explores the world of politics and wine. For example, who would have guessed that Richard Nixon had his wine poured from napkin-draped bottles to hide the fact that he preferred French wines over domestic? Or that Jimmy Carter, still to this day, makes his own wines (no, not from peanuts), having learned the craft from his father?

"We wanted to create something relevant to our nation's current political experience and keep it light-hearted and non-partisan," said Stefan Smith, President of Fine Wine Games, Inc., publisher of the quiz. "We're not revealing any dark, incriminating secrets, just pointing out some of the more interesting wine-related tidbits that are attributed to past and possibly future White House residents."

So what does Obama drink when he visits his favorite Chicago restaurant? According to the White House Wine Quiz, "A single margarita. Although characterized as a founding member of the wine and cheese club, Obama is said to partake equally (though judiciously) of cocktails, beer, and wine. At the Topolobampo, his favorite Chicago restaurant, Obama always orders a single margarita with dinner, never wine. Psst: Barack, try some of the Mexican wines on their award-winning wine list!"

The White House Wine Quiz was created by Fine Wine Games, Inc., which publishes educational card games and online materials related to wine. The company's flagship product is Cork Jester's Wine Teasers, a lighthearted and educational card game with content written by Jennifer Rosen, the James Beard Award winning wine writer and educator. Wine Teasers games are available at http://www.wineteasers.com, retailers throughout the U.S., Amazon.com and other online retailers.
