SqwaQ Demonstrates Manpower Multiplier for Covid-19 Telemedicine War
Tuesday, March 31, 2020

HIPAA compliant, mobile telemedicine modem acts like a manpower multiplier so ER doctors can remotely evaluate 2-5 times more Covid-19 patients per hour, while directing thousands of telemedicine workers across the country.

DALLAS, March 23, 2020 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- SqwaQ, a company specializing in mobile, critical data connectivity for telemedicine, disclosed that it has successfully demonstrated its technology to several emergency responders and large medical interests who are preparing for escalated efforts to track and contain the spread of Covid-19. There is an urgent need for hundreds of "pop-up" testing and treatment centers across the country. However, reliable mobile data connectivity has been an obstacle to deployment and is critical to support thousands of remote telemedicine workers who may need to be deployed to rural areas where Internet access can be challenging.

SqwaQ's patented, mobile modem called the SqwaQbox, was specifically designed for critical data applications like a mobile Covid-19 war. It's small and portable so it can be mounted in vehicles like ambulances, and can even be inserted into rolling medical bags that healthcare workers can take almost anywhere. Plus, it delivers much more bandwidth than a phone or other cellular modems. The SqwaQbox also works on very low battery power, so you don't need an AC outlet to get reliable connectivity in a remote area where M*A*S*H style triage tents could need to be set up.

The SqwaQbox doesn't rely on one cellular network either. It combines up to a dozen 4G-LTE connections from different networks and towers simultaneously. This gives remote healthcare workers a reliable, multi-redundant connection for telemedicine sessions with any available hospital in the country, creating a manpower multiplier. With SqwaQ, one ER doctor can remotely evaluate and treat 2-5 times more patients per hour without having to change protective gear and rooms each time.

Roughly 1-in-5 Americans lives in rural areas, representing 60 million people with an average age of 73, the highest risk group for Covid-19 exposure. These rural areas have not been hard hit by Covid-19 yet, but they represent the highest fatality risk. Half of all rural counties in America have no ICU beds to deal with this pandemic but there is still time to prepare.

"If we learned anything from Katrina, it's that bureaucratic response is not decisive or nimble. SqwaQ is already receiving emergency requests from areas that are hard hit by Covid-19 and deployment is harder when a city is locked down. We're trying to deploy our technology early and proactively before the situation becomes dire, but some decision makers are moving much slower than others.", said Ted Lindsley, CEO
