Bert® Plug Load Management Adds RESTful Services Gateway
Wednesday, April 8, 2020

Bert now supports both RESTful Services and BACnet/IP Integration.

KING OF PRUSSIA, Pa., March 31, 2020 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Best Energy Reduction Technologies, LLC (Bert), the leading supplier of Wi-Fi plug load management solutions for commercial buildings, announces immediate availability of BERT REST, our new RESTful Services Software Gateway. BERT REST lets web-based energy management and building automation systems integrate, measure, analyze and control both circuits and plug load devices using the existing Wi-Fi network, at either 2.4 or 5 GHz.

With the BERT REST Gateway, third party developers can easily integrate with Bert IP enabled IoT hardware and software using local or remote HTTPS clients. By integrating into the existing energy management platform, Bert simplifies network management, increases operational efficiency and reduces both installation and support expenses. Building operators can better manage and optimize buildings when they are able to view all building loads in a single dashboard.

The BERT REST Gateway is secure, scalable and capable of integrating thousands of plug and hardwired loads in both centralized and decentralized environments.

About the BERT REST Software Gateway

HTTPS clients communicate with the BERT REST Gateway using Bert's RESTful APIs. The APIs are used to discover Bert IoT enabled hardware and software, control Bert managed loads and retrieve Bert data such as volts, amps, watts, RSSI and temperature. Frequently managed loads include PTAC/AC units, electric hot water heaters, exhaust fans, air handling units, break room equipment, printers and copiers.

"In the past, integration was complicated and expensive for distributed plug loads, often requiring specialized knowledge and customized solutions, BERT REST enables our partners and customers to easily deliver centralized, real-time control and management for distributed loads using a simple standardized architecture," says Bert CEO, Scott Yetter.

"While we will continue to offer a robust standalone solution, we believe the energy management market is moving toward integrated solutions. By offering both BACnet/IP and RESTful Gateways, we can support both legacy and newer energy management systems," adds Yetter.

The Power of BERT

With 40,000 IP-enabled Berts installed in over 1,000 buildings, school districts, colleges, state/local governments and sporting venues save over 10 million kWh annually with Bert. By simply plugging devices into Bert IOT enabled Smart Plugs or wiring circuits with the Bert IOT enabled Inline Series, commercial buildings remotely manage devices and collect building data from loads ranging from 120V/15A to 277V/20A.

Bert is well-suited for both new construction and retrofit projects as either a standalone system or integrated into existing energy management systems. Bert installs quickly so energy savings are immediate with an ROI ranging from 1 to 7 years. Bert is often included in performance contracts from ABM, Ameresco, Energy System Group, Honeywell, Johnson Controls, McKinstry, Noresco, Schneider Electric, Siemens and Trane.
