Company calls on Facebook to address propagation of health disinformation by its platform
NEW YORK, June 25, 2020 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- FSAstore.com announced today that it will push pause on Facebook advertising in July in an attempt to encourage the social media platform to stop the propagation of health disinformation across its user news feeds. A part of the Health-E Commerce family of brands, FSAstore.com and its sister site HSAstore.com are the first and largest online retail stores dedicated exclusively to serving consumers who are enrolled in flexible spending accounts (FSAs) and health savings accounts (HSAs). Since 2008, the company has been a reliable source of educational content about spending accounts, eligibility, and tips that help consumers maximize their healthcare dollars.
"Now, more than ever, our country needs reliable, credible, and respectful content that will help individuals and families navigate their way through this global health crisis," said Shawna Hausman, chief marketing officer at FSAstore.com. "Our team has worked tirelessly to remain a trusted source of health and benefits information, and we believe the prevalence of health disinformation on Facebook is putting all Americans at risk. We're calling on Facebook to take action and adhere to a higher standard for the sake of individuals and families everywhere."
Hausman added that FSAstore.com will temporarily suspend advertising on Facebook in July and will monitor Facebook's response to this situation with hope for positive change. For updates follow FSAstore.com on Twitter at @FSAstore or follow #StopDisinformation or #StopHateForProfit.
