Dough Rolls Out Shoppable Site; Joindough.com Debuts As One-Stop Shopping Destination Consumers Can Feel Good About

For the Holidays and Beyond, Individuals Can Now Shop Directly on Dough's Website for Hundreds of Products from Women-Owned Brands

BOSTON, Sept. 15, 2020 /PRNewswire/ -- E-commerce company Dough announced today consumers can now shop hundreds of products from women-owned and led companies and make purchases directly on its website, joindough.com. Introduced in 2019 as a curated directory enabling the discovery of a diverse network of small businesses helmed by women, the update represents the latest chapter in Dough's evolution and enables the company to streamline operations and continue to foster its community of sellers while ensuring a premium shopping experience.

Amid shutdowns and with many consumers spending significantly more time at home, online shopping has soared. According to research by Adobe Analytics, online sales in the U.S. hit $73.2 billion in June, up more than 76% year-over-year. That surge is anticipated to hold steady through the end of 2020, with approximately 3 out of 4 Americans planning to make more than half of their holiday gift purchases online. The current climate has also influenced Americans' decisions not just regarding where they spend, but who their dollars support. Post-pandemic, the majority of U.S. adults plan to more frequently patronize small businesses.

"To us, being a conscious consumer means more than shopping small and knowing that the goods you purchase are ethically sourced and produced, which is why one of Dough's differentiators is that the shopping experience is purposefully transparent," said Vanessa Bruce, Dough co-founder and CEO. "Every product offered on our site is accompanied by the name and photo of the woman or women behind it. By building on our mission-driven concept and transforming Dough into a one-stop shopping destination, we've made it turnkey for consumers to shop with intention this holiday season and year-round."

In just over a year since its launch, Dough's inclusive community has grown to roughly 500 independent sellers. Shoppable items run the gamut from apparel and accessories, to food and beverage, to home decor and products for pets and pet parents. The user-friendly website is fully searchable, and beyond product type and price point, can be navigated by a unique range of criteria, including communities sellers identify with (including Black-owned, LGBTQIA+-owned and veteran-owned), and product characteristics (vegan, organic, cruelty-free, handmade, etc.)

"Dough was created to promote inclusivity while addressing head-on the inequity in women's role in the labor force," said company Co-Founder Anna Palmer. "Roughly two percent of venture capital backs women-owned businesses, and that number shrinks for women of color. When you shop Dough, you're helping women gain the traction they need to guarantee a secure financial future."
