In support of Open Access Week, ChronosHub is pleased to announce the public availability of the Journal Finder Beta, a tool to guide authors through the increasingly complicated journal selection and submission process.
COPENHAGEN, Denmark, Oct. 22, 2020 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- In support of Open Access Week, ChronosHub is pleased to announce the public availability of the Journal Finder Beta, a tool to guide authors through the increasingly complicated journal selection and submission process.
The beta release of the Journal Finder makes use of data directly collected from publishers in combination with several online sources, including the new Sherpa from Jisc, the Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ), Lens.org, Scopus, Web of Science, etc. to guide authors on where to publish in compliance with their funder's Open Access policy.
The Journal Finder Beta:
-- Includes +40,000 journals and policies for 33 funders
-- Enables authors to indicate their specific funding source(s), including
Plan S
-- Guides authors to see if journals are compliant with the funder's OA
policy
-- Lets authors filter search results based on subject area, journal list,
publisher, and license
-- Highlights the article processing charge (APC) to be paid where known
and applicable
-- Offers the possibility to create a user account and submit manuscripts
directly to publishers
The public Journal Finder Beta is a community-driven initiative where inputs are crucial. The beta version is based on third-party sources that have been tested thoroughly and corrected for accuracy. However, the underlying data is dynamic as publishers and funders change and update their policies from time to time. The aim is to ensure that anyone in the research community can access the tool and contribute to the development.
"We're pleased to contribute to moving Open Access forward with the help of the wider community. By making the beta-version of the Journal Finder publicly available, we will support all authors with the clear guidance they've been looking for to publish in compliance with their funders' OA policies", says Christian Grubak, Founder and CEO at ChronosHub. "We welcome everyone to try the Journal Finder and provide feedback. Publishers and funders, in particular, are encouraged to get in contact with us to ensure we keep their data as accurate and up-to-date as possible."
