DOWNERS GROVE, Ill., Nov. 24, 2020 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- As author Edith Vosefski was finishing her recently released memoir, "The Nine Lives of Curious Edith", she was anticipating her 90th birthday and managing the residual side effects of a stroke, requiring her to type the manuscript with basically one finger. Vosefski reached her milestone age in August, finished her manuscript, and released her completed book this month.

"I'm a person who shares and writing 'The Nine Lives of Curious Edith' was a way to share my life with others. As a lifelong educator and therapist, I hope my story gives people a glimpse into the importance of teachers in a child's life," said Vosefski. "I also hope people can learn from the positive way I've tried to handle all of life's ups and downs as chronicled in the book."

Vosefski is a lifetime resident of Downers Grove, Illinois, a 1952 graduate of Northwestern University's College of Communication Science, and the mother of two adult sons. Her biography takes the reader on a journey through the decades of her personal history, from the horse-drawn ice wagons of her childhood through her schooling, courtship, and 60-year marriage to her husband Joe, and their international travels together. Readers also learn of her life's work as housemother in a children's home, teacher, homemaker, and later as a counselor, and program administrator in a psychiatric hospital, and the later founding of the Northern Illinois School of Etiquette.

Young in heart and an active learner throughout her decades, Vosefski became a first-time author in her 70s when she wrote "Mariana's Little Book of Manners" as a resource for her etiquette students. She went on to pen two children's books, "Leo's Out of This World Adventure", and "Leo and the Spirit of Golden Boy", after developing a love for Native American culture. Both books contain her original artwork, as she also first trained as an artist as a septuagenarian. Vosefski said "The Nine Lives of Curious Edith" was a departure from children's books and the opportunity to "write what she knows."

"It's a book that is peppered with faith and humor and can be enjoyed by any adults with an interest in local history and an appreciation for living with the determination to always see the glass 'half full,'" she said.

In her signature, dramatic black hat (which was once owned by a Russian princess), the cover of "The Nine Lives of Curious Edith" radiates the author's personality with a unique combination of wisdom and inquisitiveness. Cats, which have always been part of her life's journey, guide the reader through Vosefski's personal story which is divided into nine "lives."
